The most emotional moment was the presentation of the Jiří Theiner Award to Algerian writer Boualem Sansal, which was accepted by his daughters. An acclaimed Algerian author became a compelling choice for Jiří Theiner Award for Freedom of Speech 2025 due to his fearless exploration of controversial and critical issues through literature. Sansal’s works consistently champion the values of free expression, intellectual integrity, and the critique of all forms of authoritarianism. He boldly addresses themes such as political corruption, religious extremism, and societal repression, often at great personal risk.

This was the third time the International Book Fair and Literary Festival Book World Prague featured a programme section entitled the Central and East European Book Market.
CEEBM serves as a platform enabling book industry professionals from Central and Eastern Europe to meet and exchange experience. This edition is characterized by a marked increase in interest in one-to-one business meetings and panel discussions on topics such as bibliodiversity and the search for opportunities for international communication through literature and film.
