Lenka Horňáková-Civade

Lenka Horňáková-Civade (*1971) is a Czech-born writer and visual artist who has lived and worked in France since 1993. She made her literary debut with the Czech-written book Provence jako Sen (2010). Since 2016, she has published her books directly in French and translates them herself into Czech: Giboulée de soleil(Marie a Magdalény), Une verrière sous le ciel (Grófka), La Symphonie du Nouveau monde (Symfonie o novém světě). Her latest novel Moi, Europe (Renaissance, 2025) presents Europe as a living being, the narrator of its own history, in which myth intertwines with reality, the past with the present, and literature with geography and philosophy. For her novelistic work, Lenka Horňáková-Civade has received significant literary awards (Prix Renaudot des lycéens).
