Daniel Aubrey is a former journalist based in Scotland, focusing on the history and dialect of Orkney, the second northernmost archipelago of the British Isles. The stark beauty of the northern landscape and psyche is central to his debut crime novel Island of Darkness (2024), featuring neurodivergent reporter Freya Sinclair. A second crime novel set in Orkney, Dying Light, will be published in Czech translation in spring 2026.
