Dear friends,

Please find enclosed the registration form for the 3rd annual national book fair — BookWorld Brno 2005. During the 3 days of the last year's book fair the event hosted some 12,000 visitors; a considerable increase in comparison with the very first Brno BookWorld in 2003. It is clear, and the exhibitors' opinion polls — available in electronic form upon request — support this claim, that the new book fair is experiencing a very promising development and gradually establishes a tradition of the second largest book event nationwide. It is no doubt in the interest of all those who take part in the book fair that the profile of its publishing offer be as comprehensive as possible and that it meets the expectations of all the participants — exhibitors and visitors from among the professional and general public alike. The exhibition grounds, combined with the high-quality services and marketing support provided to the book fair's organisers and participants by the Brno Trade Fairs and Exhibitions, all create a suitable environment for the professional preparation and organisation of the book event, which enjoys the support of the Statutory City of Brno. We also gladly acknowledge the active interest in co-operating in the event on the part of the Moravia region's major libraries and cultural institutions, universities and the Brno Centre for European Studies. The Chief District Officer of the South Moravia Region has been informed about the event and has also expressed his support.

In order to ensure a successful BookWorld Brno 2005 we are currently concentrating on the following:

• Targeted acquisition of professional visitors and their convenient on-line registration
  (visitor packages with the option of including publishers' offer)
• Direct mailing and advertising of new books exhibited at the book fair
• Accompanying programme — for your inspiration
  1. Preparations for a nationwide meeting of librarians
  2. Historical novel, historical weapons in literature and illustrations (marking the anniversary of the Battle of Austerlitz)
  3. Growing with the Book (marking the A. Einstein anniversary)
     Popular-science and technical literature for children, young people and adults
  4. Live a Language, Speak a Life (offer of foreign-language textbooks and teaching programmes)
